Prayers Needed:

Babies are always an adventure at our house. Mary Anna is no exception. When we came home from the hospital, we had to have bilirubin lights at home. A few days later, her bilirubin levels were down to a 10.6, so we got to take her out of the lights and the medical company came and took them away. This morning, we had another bilirubin test and her levels have suddenly shot up to 18. 20 is the danger zone.

This same thing happened to Emma when she was born. She ended up in the hospital for several days. She's the first kid in 20 years that our doctor has ever had to hospitalize for jaundice. Apparently our little family has more than the average knack for turning yellow. We've always wondered if that had something to do with Emma's cerebral palsy. When the levels get high enough, the bilirubin starts to leave deposits on the basal ganglia. That's the part of Emma's brain that has a 'blip' on it - which is where her cp comes from, but they've never actually linked her cp with her jaundice. They don't think her levels got high enough to do that.

Either way, we don't want history to repeat itself with our little Mary Anna. She will be under the lights here at home for a few more days again. We are grateful that she won't be in the hospital over Christmas. She'll be receiving a priesthood blessing from Bub and his Dad shortly. But we could really use your faith and prayers combined with ours in her behalf. We have a strong faith in our Heavenly Father and know that our faith and prayers together can make the difference.
